BAROSSA VALLEY SHIRAZ

2016 Ironstone Ridge Barossa Valley Shiraz is a subtly full-bodied wine; a fine balance of ripe fruit, spice and texture, lingering on the pallet indefinitely.

The wine holds an aroma of ripe black berry fruits and dense figs, carrying an artful undertone of toasty sweetness. It brings a palate that is full with silky yet firm tannins, offering more fruit than oak. The roundness of this palate carries full and intense dark fruits with an underlying cherry mocha character.

The process of our wine-making focuses on quality. Small intense batches of fruit are crushed and macerated over a fifteen-day period, using gentle pump-overs to limit the over-extraction of intense tannins. After 15 days the wine is then gently pressed to a 2500 litre French Oak Feeder. The wine will then continue to mature in these vessels for 38 months.

'This is magnificiently composed and expressed showing dark fruit richness, toasty oak, vanilla, game and cake spice aromas on the nose. The powerfully concentrated palate delivers opulent density and texture, brilliantly framed by layers of fine chalky tannins. Sturdy and structured with an awesome presence. At it its best: now to 2036.'
